Thank you for your feedback. As you’ve experienced, QuickBooks Self-Employed’s purpose today is just to keep track of your business income and spending, but we do hear you, and recognize that not being able to track all of your finances (business as well as personal) in the same tool can be annoying. We currently don’t have upcoming plans to enable personal finance tracking in QuickBooks Self-Employed as it would open the door to too much additional tax and reporting complexity that we don’t believe we can effectively support in the near term. That said, your continued feedback on the issue helps to tip the scales toward creating a solution and accomodating that complexity. We’d love to hear more about how you track your personal finances today, Mint or otherwise, and what tracking your personal finances in QuickBooks Self-Employed would need to do in order to work for you. Thank you…

This is already a feature request and we need a core bookkeeping function like account reconciliation more than this feature.

Thank you for your feedback! Similar to what we shared with the idea for adding multiple vehicles, adding the ability to track State Taxes has implications for sending data to TurboTax, but also would require that we provide a great experience for how to pay your estimated State taxes.

We’re reviewing your feedback and researching how we could solve for this need. As soon as we have anything to share, we’ll post it here.

Thank you for all the feedback! We totally agree with how important tracking retirement deductions is for your Estimated Taxes.

While we don’t have anything specific planned right now, we are reviewing your feedback and thinking through how we can best solve this problem. As soon as we have any updates to share, we’ll post them here.

Thank you for your feedback! We hear you that often you need to be able to keep track of multiple vehicles at the same time.

To give a little insight into why this isn’t available yet, in order for us to release this feature we have to configure the connection between TurboTax in such a way that we would be able to send mileage tracking data for multiple vehicles from QuickBooks Self-Employed to TurboTax. We’re actively looking into how to make this work.

As soon as we have any updates on this idea, we’ll post them here.

As of 04/29/2019, all customers in the United States can try out our first version of “Custom Categories”! You’ll see we’ve called it Tagging.

You can try it out by logging in to QuickBooks Self-Employed through your favorite web browser and going to our Labs section by clicking on the Gear Icon and going to Labs (note you can also go this URL- https://selfemployed.intuit.com/home#/preferences/labs)

Currently Tagging is only available through the Web (not our Mobile Apps just yet) for US customers.

We would love your feedback as you start using this first version! Please use the “Give Feedback” link on the Labs page as our team will be closely monitoring this.

    Agreed!

I'm having a hard time with seeing other features being more popular when a core function of bookkeeping like this isn't even there to begin with.

    Andy Williams commented  ·

YES! please add it! Reconciliation should be standard in any bookkeeping software and I was surprised not to see it when I first started using QBSE. Without bookkeeping its really just Quick Self-Employed and as a result I cannot reliably use the metrics for profit and loss, etc since transactions are just in there willy nilly without any confirmation.

This is basically a duplicate of this other post: https://selfemployed.uservoice.com/forums/242769-general/suggestions/32721040-improving-functionality-of-add-receipt-feature

However, this one is getting more traction so im also voting for it too. being able to manually match entered transactions to cleared ones and receipts to cleared transactions regardless of how they got in the system needs to be available for when the system doesn't get it right. Otherwise it just creates a mess when transactions are downloaded from the bank and mix in with the manually entered ones. Theres currently no way to correct the system when it reconciles wrong or doesnt at all. You just have to "exclude" or delete the transaction(s), thats a poor solution akin to throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

YES! This also goes with receipt forwarding. It seems obvious to me that this would be part of the system as software frequently makes errors in areas like this. Maybe implementation of this feature wasn't thought through completely?!? As it stands currently we are forced to throw the baby out with the bathwater if the transaction isn't properly matched effectively rendering this potentially powerful feature into a bad gimmick over half the time.
